Raffles City 2 Opens this Saturday

As if one Raffles City wasn’t enough, this Saturday, the second Raffles City mall will open in Changning District. It will be seven storeys tall and house dozens of big food and clothing brands (yes, including white castle). Here’s what you can expect there.

 


Some of the big fashion brands there will be H&M New Concept Store, ASH Flagship Store, and Esprit Shanghai Flagship Store.

 

Here’s what you can expect for food:


WHITE CASTLE



This cult-classic burgers shop was founded in Wichita, Kansas back in 1921, and is generally credited as the country's first fast-food chain. Interestingly, it was so influential that its name appeared in Beastie Boys’ songs 7 times. This shop also boasts the “most influential burger of all time” according to Time magazine. The small, square hamburgers (sometimes referred to as "sliders”) were also made famous by the 2004 film Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle.

MORTON'S GRILL



Morton’s has an over 40-year history of good quality steaks and laid-back environment. From tender steaks to fresh seafood, mouthwatering burgers and artistic flatbreads. Morton's Grill is a solid western addition to the new mall.

XI HE YA YUAN



This is a quaint, yet modern shop specializing in roast duck. Xihe Roast Duck is their signature dish, with tender, high-quality meat that melts in your mouth.

YING 31



This shop features traditional Shanghai food, themed in memory of Zhang Ailing, a famous female writer in China. Its Chinese Shop name “煐” comes from Zhang’s name”张瑛”. While “31” stems from the year 1931 when Zhan entered St.Mary’s Hall to be educated. It’s a little bit of history dashed into the bustling mall.

LONGFENG HOUSE



This shop is an amazing choice for traditional Hong Kong food. Frozen Pork, Traditional Steamed Bamboo and Shellfish, Spicy Crabs, and plenty of other Hong Kong favorites that are well worth a try!

CHAO XI


Fresh Beef Hot Pot has grown enormously in popularity since “Zuo Ting You Yuan” first opened in 2005. Chao Xi treats you to this (extremely) fresh meat which only takes 6 hours to go from the cow to the serving table.

YAN




This Guangdong shop features iron-burning rotisseries. With simple yet modern decorations, it’s characterized with high-end beef selections and traditional “Yan Iron-burning”. Australian Black is its specialty and you should definitely try it if you’re there.

HARUKI NOODLES



This crazy noodle shop from Japan is finally launching in China. The noodle-making machines are all authentic, imported from Japan and all noodles are only served that day.


This shop features its signature soup, which is boiled for hours with a unique recipe including pig bones, and their special Haruki Sauces.

ROSE HALL


This shop serves traditional Huaiyang Cuisine which is one of the four classic cuisines in China. Delicious food with natural flavor, fresh taste, and high nutrition. Perhaps a great way to fill up before you shop all day.

AIMILIA


Although the name sounds very Western, Aimilia has been offering Japanese cuisine for more than 20 years. It specializes in Fried Salmon Salad, It’s nutritious, delicious and will fill you right up.

GINKGO HOUSE



With some of the finest Japanese decorations around, this shop features “live seafood cuisine”, which yes, offers living seafood for you to eat. For the slightly less adventurous there’s a good selection of Sushi as well.

DIAN XIAO ER



Almost everyone has tried Beijing Roast Duck already, but have you tried “Herbal Roast Duck?” The duck is pickled with Chinese local herb remedies and then cooked in a classic way to ensure crispy skin and tender meat. It’s healthy and delicious so why not!

MISS TAIPEI



This Taiwanese shop serves you the most dedicated and creative Taiwan cuisine you have ever experienced. Try some of their cool drinks like Rosy and 1982’s COCA COLA.

CouCou Hot Pot is a must-try, especially their incredible specialty “Beef PLUS” with Canadian rib-eye beef. If it gets too spicy, order an authentic tea or their famous Dahongpao Milk Tea.

This shop was founded in 1990 in the Queensway of London and now has branches in Thailand, Singapore, Shanghai, Hangzhou. They feature classic Hong Kong cuisine with specialties including Wenxin Roast Duck, Sake Baked Crabs, and Kirin Suckling Pork.
